Harley ProStream™ 8000 Digital Mosaic Solution — the world's first fully digital mosaic generation system — enables operators to create navigation screens using multiple standard definition video thumbnails and still images or video base screens as backgrounds. This solution provides a simple, flexible, and cost-effective IP-based architecture for national/local channel navigation, on-demand promotions, in-band information services, sports/news multi-screen applications, and more. The ProStream 8000 receives and processes content through a Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) I/O interface, generating output mosaic video without the need for additional decoders and encoders. The ProStream 8000 has been deployed with top middleware clients and can be easily integrated into any set-top box environment.
This system is a single rack unit (1RU) PC platform that decodes and adjusts embedded video to generate video blocks or thumbnails; it also creates a single MPEGoIP transport stream that contains a single video stream, up to 20 audio channels, and associated metadata.
ProStream 8000 can be managed through a simple web-based application, which allows users to connect to the platform to dynamically create outputs, download active configurations, or upload saved configurations. All updates to the video thumbnail layout, size, and quantity are immediately applied to the outputs of the ProStream 8000, enabling operators to design mosaic outputs in real-time. Its copy and paste functionality for existing thumbnails accelerates the deployment of new layouts; additionally, configurations can be fine-tuned offline and uploaded for use at a later time after being saved.
The ProStream 8000 can also embed customer-customized metadata associated with each thumbnail. The standard SPTS metadata output includes thumbnail positioning and the MPEG structure related to each embedded audio and video channel. Additionally, it allows for the inclusion of an extra two thousand characters of specific program information for subscriber set-top box decoding.
