SEL-1ENC1
MPEG-2/H.264 Universal Encoder

The Selenio™ SEL-1ENC1 module is one of the most compact and low-power full-featured encoders available on the market today. It integrates the latest chip architecture, breaking through the bottlenecks inherent in previous generations of solutions. Selenio compresses a single video signal using the MPEG-2 or H.264 standard, supporting various universal algorithms, and can compress up to eight audio streams while handling associated VBI and VANC data. The Selenio SEL-1ENC1 encoder occupies minimal space, saves power, and offers comprehensive functionality, making it an ideal choice for various applications, including production, distribution, and final transmission, as well as post-production and monitoring, setting a new standard for simplicity in the H.264 era.

Product Details
The Selenio encoder module supports all popular video formats, including standard definition (SD), high definition (HD), and up to 1080p. It can be field-upgraded to support various video and audio formats and compression standards, providing a cost-effective expansion path for any facility. In addition to the main compressed video output, the Selenio encoder module also offers a lower resolution compressed stream output, which can be used to support mobile encoding and picture-in-picture requirements in IPTV deployment scenarios or monitoring requirements for transport streams in network deployment scenarios. It supports up to eight pairs of stereo audio, providing various audio compression options, including Dolby® AC-3 2.0 and 5.1, MPEG-1 Layer 2, AAC-LC stereo and 5.1, HE–AAC stereo and 5.1, and Dolby® E. All audio can be embedded in SDI for transmission to the encoder or provided as separate AES inputs.
The front module connects the SEL-1ENC1 encoder application module with two controller modules for SDI/ASI interconnection, providing 100Base-T for monitoring and 1000Base-T for data applications. Additionally, an internal digital reference is provided for each controller.
The backplane module connects the SEL-1ENC1 encoder application module and offers two options for backplane connection—one using HD-BNC electrical interfaces for input and output, and the other combining SFP optical input with HD-BNC output. Both backplane modules use HD-BNC connectors and GPI/serial port connectors, providing AES-3 connectivity. The SDI and ASI interfaces use Belden type 1505A, 1694A, or 1695A cables with HD-BNC connectors, while the AES-3 interface uses Belden type 1855 cables with HD-BNC connectors. Dedicated cable removal tools are also provided for these types of HD-BNC connectors. For optical input connections, SFP receivers can be added to the corresponding backplane module.

MPEG-2/H.264 Universal Decoder

The Selenio™ SEL-1DEC1 module is a fully functional multi-format video decoder capable of handling H.264 and MPEG-2 video streams along with their commonly associated audio and metadata streams. This decoder is built using the latest chip architecture, allowing for seamless compatibility with the Selenio SEL-1ENC1 encoder module and other industry encoders. The Selenio decoder supports the decoding of a single video stream using either the MPEG-2 or H.264 standard, with support for up to eight audio streams, and can process any supported data insertion via VBI or VANC.
Due to its polar flexibility, the Selenio decoder has become an ideal choice for production and distribution applications. When used in conjunction with other modules in the Selenio series, this versatile decoder can meet the demands of multi-format satellite decoding, confidential monitoring, and more.

SEL-MDX1
Transport Stream Multiplexer/Demultiplexer

The Selenio™ SEL-MDX1 packager and multiplexer module allows you to easily multiplex, demultiplex, remultiplex, or package transport streams. Incoming programs can be converted into new programs at any time, allowing for the easy addition of local content (commercials, news, etc.) to existing programs and the rapid generation of new transport streams.
The unique internal interface within the Selenio platform provides unprecedented flexibility. It allows for easy routing of content from various sources (including MPEG-2 and H.264 encoder modules), various internal network interfaces (such as DVB-ASI), and incoming transport streams from Gigabit Ethernet.
The Selenio multiplexer offers features such as DVB scrambling and conditional access (CA) (implemented via a common interface), making it an ideal choice for production and distribution solutions as well as Direct-to-Home (DTH) market applications.

SEL-2XD1
Dual-channel conversion with advanced audio processing

The Selenio™ SEL-1XD1 and SEL-2XD1 modules provide single-channel and high-density dual-channel video conversion for 3G/HD/SD/3D signals. These modules are particularly suitable for any broadcast, post-production, cable, or mobile facility that needs to handle and synchronize NTSC/PAL, SD (480i, 576i), HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p/sf), and 3D video with audio (embedded and/or separate) signals. The SEL-1XD1 and SEL-2XD1 can recalibrate program signal timing based on the local system clock to streamline processing for all synchronized signals. Signal processing capabilities include up/down/cross/aspect ratio conversion and basic frame rate conversion (optional linear frame rate conversion), processing amplification, color correction and legalizing, as well as logo generation/insertion for both single-channel and dual-channel applications.

Dual-channel frame synchronizer with advanced audio processing

The Selenio™ SEL-1FS1 and SEL-2FS1 modules provide single-channel and high-density dual-channel video frame synchronization and audio timing for 3G/HD/SD/3D signals. These modules are particularly suitable for any broadcast, post-production, cable, or mobile facility that needs to handle and synchronize NTSC/PAL, SD (480i, 576i), HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p), and 3D video and audio (embedded and/or separate) signals. The SEL-1FS1 and SEL-2FS1 can recalibrate the timing of I/O signals based on the local station clock to streamline the processing of all synchronized signals. Signal processing capabilities include processing amplification, color correction, legalizing, and logo generation/insertion.

Digital Audio Expansion Module

The SELOPT-DAEX-AESCS and SELOPT-DAEX-AESBS digital audio expansion modules are installed next to the frame synchronization and video conversion application modules in the Selenio™ chassis. These expansion modules provide additional unbalanced AES inputs and outputs for the Selenio platform, or add balanced AES inputs/outputs along with more advanced audio processing capabilities.

The SELOPT-AAEX-AABS analog audio expansion module is installed next to the frame synchronization and video conversion application module in the Selenio™ chassis, allowing users to easily add analog audio interfaces.
