Leading next-generation headend global supplier AppearTV has announced that it has delivered a front-end distribution system for Red Intercable in Argentina, providing content aggregation services to over 200 cable television network operators, reaching 500 towns and cities. These solutions enable operators to access programming from cable television networks across Argentina. AppearTV's front-end is deployed at 38 sites, with installations continuing throughout 2012/3, and it is expected that over 200 operators of Red Intercable will utilize the AppearTV front-end.
AppearTV provides processing in a 4RU chassis for inputs from an IP network and DVB-S/S2 satellite or through cable IP circuits to the terminal end. Local content is then added and distributed over DVB-C network television services with more than 16 or 256 QAM carriers. The front-end and pre-front-end are installed by AppearTV's commercial partner, audio-visual AIVIS, branded as “Dibox” Red Intercable. Dibox additionally handles decryption/conditional access, efficiently utilizing television design modules that appear in the Dibox chassis.
“With the core design philosophy of AppearTV, its headend offers maximum flexibility and functionality, and I believe we have truly pushed the limits of this project,” said Red Intercable General Manager and Project Leader Fabián Cicco. “Providing content for around 200 branches across over 500 towns and cities, tailored to each operator's individual technical requirements, is a real challenge. The Dibox headend from AppearTV has guaranteed that our branches receive the content they need, allowing us to effectively manage this complex architecture and cost-effectively. I look forward to AppearTV and AIVIS providing additional Dibox solutions throughout 2012 and 2013.”
AppearTV's Dibox headend offers additional redundancy through dual power supplies and hot-swappable fans. In the current configuration, the headend has several available slots, making it simple to insert additional modules for upgrades as needed, such as if more QAM frequencies for content services are required.
“Our headend is simply a perfect project for Red Intercable,” said AppearTV CEO Karl Walter Holst. “Flexibility and stability are key for Red Intercable to obtain rich content in the way they need for around 200 customers. I look forward to providing more headends throughout 2012/13, and I am excited to see how operators may utilize our flexibility to offer new and exciting content to their branches.”
