LiveUDeployment at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics Sets New Records
Thousands of LiveU encoders were deployed throughout the Olympic venues, serving broadcasters from 62 countries. During this period, the total live broadcast duration exceeded 70,000 hours, setting a new benchmark for LiveU's application in global news and sports reporting.
From the athletes' entrance boat on the Seine River during the opening ceremony to the intense competition venues, and to the bustling streets around the athlete village in Paris, LiveU's IP technology and 5G bonding technology provided flexible and dynamic live broadcasts. LiveU's LU800 multi-camera live production encoder allowed photographers to completely break free from the mobility and shooting limitations of traditional equipment, enabling broadcasters to bring all the action details, vibrant atmosphere, and heartfelt emotions to audiences at home and abroad. Over 50% of LiveU devices utilized local 5G network infrastructure, achieving maximum performance while enhancing bandwidth efficiency.
LiveUcloud solutions also played a crucial role, with the LiveU Matrix cloud-based IP distribution platform providing real-time sharing of key moments, with approximately 800 live feeds directly adopted by broadcasters worldwide. LiveU's automatic recording solution, LiveU Ingest, accelerated the production workflow; LiveU's remote production tool, video return solution, ensured high-quality live broadcasts between the production crew and control room. By seamlessly integrating remote production workflows, LiveU's solutions reduced carbon emissions caused by employee travel and the transportation of large equipment, contributing to the green and sustainable development of the broadcasting industry.
