Oriental Cable has expanded its cable digital TV channels starting today.

According to the announcement from Oriental Cable Network Co., Ltd. on October 29, in order to meet the growing cultural and informational needs of the public in Shanghai, and in accordance with the directives from the National Radio and Television Administration regarding the further promotion and regulation of high-definition television development, Oriental Cable has accelerated the construction of the Next Generation Broadcasting Television Network (NGB) and has begun expanding cable digital television channels and adjusting some channel names as of October 29.

 
The specific additions and adjustments are as follows, with the numbers in parentheses indicating the channel numbers:
 
1. Six new standard-definition channels have been added: Xiamen TV (78), Youman Cartoon (86), Enterprise News (99), Discovery Journey (143), Happy Fishing (154), and Pioneer Pingyu (155). Note that Enterprise News is only broadcast in Jinshan District.
 
2. Six new high-definition channels have been added: Wuxing Sports HD (208), Documentary HD (209), CCTV-3 HD (212), CCTV-5 HD (213), CCTV-6 HD (214), and CCTV-8 HD (215).
 
3. The names of the original Sports Channel (8), Fujian TV (67), Stereo Entertainment (129), Family Health (146), and CCTV HD (220) have been adjusted to: Wuxing Sports (8), Southeast TV (67), Travel (129), Central Radio Health (146), and Central Sports Events HD (220). The channel number for Xinjiang Satellite TV has been adjusted to 87.
 
Starting from 1:00 AM on October 29, most users' set-top boxes will automatically search for channels upon startup; some set-top boxes may require users to perform a manual search. Please pay attention to the information displayed on the set-top box prompt and follow the instructions for upgrading the search. During the search process, please be patient, and once the search is complete, the set-top box will be ready for normal use.
