The Beijing International Radio, Film and Television Equipment Exhibition (abbreviated as BIRTV) is one of the main events of the "China International Radio and Television Expo" (abbreviated as Guangbohui), organized by the National Radio and Television Administration. Guangbohui ranks first among the exhibition activities supported by the national "11th Five-Year Plan" for cultural development. BIRTV was founded in 1987 by China Central Television and is executed by the China International Economic and Technological Cooperation Corporation for Radio and Television. This year marks the 21st edition, continuing a history of over twenty years.
Since its establishment, BIRTV has consistently led the way in China among similar exhibitions in terms of the number of exhibitors, audience size, total exhibition area, and the advanced and professional level of exhibited equipment. It has been at the forefront of the development trends in China's broadcasting and film technology and market. Many leading domestic and international manufacturers regard BIRTV as an important platform for launching their latest products and conducting market promotion in China. During each exhibition, delegations composed of managers from broadcasting and television bureaus (offices) across the country, as well as technical supervisors from various levels of television stations, radio stations, and internet companies, actively visit and engage in exchanges, viewing BIRTV as a platform for new technologies and new fields. In 2007, BIRTV received endorsement from the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (Endorsed by IABM).
In 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2012, Li Changchun and other party and state leaders visited BIRTV on four occasions, fully recognizing the work of BIRTV and its contributions to China's broadcasting and television industry.
"For many years, BIRTV has facilitated technical exchanges and cooperation in China's broadcasting and film industry, promoted the research, development, and production of national brands and equipment in broadcasting and film, and provided support, security, and momentum for the development of broadcasting and film technology in our country." ---- Zhang Haitao.
