LiveU's "Q Era" in Full Swing: AI-Driven Live Technology Leads a New Wave in Global News and Sports Production

LIVEU 4G/5G Live Streaming Products

In 2026, LiveU — the global leader in real-time IP video solutions — continues to push the boundaries of mobile live transmission. From exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage of the Tour de France to the Associated Press' (AP) largest-ever global LU900Q fleet deployment, and the AI-driven "Q Era" production ecosystem showcased at CABSAT 2026, LiveU is redefining how news gathering and sports production connect.

01LU900Q and LIQ Deliver 99.9% Public-Network Coverage at the Tour de France

On October 8, 2026, LiveU announced that French production company CRD Audiovisuel relied on the LU900Q intelligent production unit and its built-in LiveU IQ (LIQ™) intelligent connectivity to deliver exclusive live content from the start of the 2026 men's and women's Tour de France. On what is widely regarded as one of the most demanding scenarios in sports video transmission, the LU900Q met 99.9% of connectivity needs using public 4G/5G networks alone, with zero failures throughout.

LIQ is LiveU's AI-driven connectivity management software that intelligently orchestrates eSIM profiles based on the unit's location, automatically connecting to the strongest available network. Even at stage starts crowded with spectators and saturated by bandwidth-heavy media operations, the LU900Q maintained broadcast-grade stable transmission, freeing production teams to focus on storytelling.

"I could never have imagined that LU900Q and LIQ would perform so well in the field. We had exactly zero problems, which, in this specific context, is a small miracle."— Stéphane Reibre, Managing Director, CRD Audiovisuel

02AP Deploys World's Largest LU900Q Fleet, Strengthening Newsgathering

On September 8, 2026, LiveU and the Associated Press (AP) announced an expanded partnership taking global newsgathering to the next level. AP will deploy LiveU Ingest, LiveU Transceivers and LiveU IQ connectivity across its worldwide operations — including the industry's largest deployment of LU900Q intelligent production units — bringing AP's global LiveU hardware fleet to over 100 encoders.

These units will support AP's live newsgathering around the world, including coverage from conflict zones, major political events and locations where connectivity is limited or unpredictable. Leveraging new AI-driven connection management and eSIM technology, the LU900Q draws on mobile data networks worldwide, turning unpredictable and challenging environments into rock-solid connections.

In addition, AP has integrated LiveU Ingest with its cloud-based MAM system, supporting up to 10 simultaneous live channels and significantly accelerating the path from field capture to distribution. AP is also migrating to a SMPTE ST 2110 IP environment, deploying five LiveU servers for flexible send/receive with content providers.

"We're excited about expanding our work with LiveU to equip our journalists with the technology to transmit live wherever the story takes them. Additionally, using LiveU Ingest with our MAM system gives us greater flexibility and speed, allowing us to move even faster and more efficiently from capturing content to distributing it to our customers around the world."— Matthew Durbin, Director of Video Technology and Operations, AP

03CABSAT 2026: LiveU's "Q Era" Showcases an AI-Driven Production Ecosystem

On September 23, 2026, at CABSAT 2026 in Dubai, LiveU presented its IP-video ecosystem for news and sports live production under the "Q Era" theme. Key highlights include:

  • LU900Q Six 5G Dual-MIMO modems, high-gain antenna array, dual-camera support, 10-bit HDR 4:2:2 encoding, up to 32 audio channels and seven hours of battery life — delivering studio-grade production quality.

  • Starlink Satellite LU900Q, LU800 and LU300S support bonding Starlink with cellular networks, providing reliable coverage for remote-location live contribution.

  • LiveU TX1 A camera-mounted unit purpose-built for Sony professional cameras, enabling fast, reliable file transfer directly from the camera (LiveU's first native integration gateway developed with Sony).

  • LiveU Nexus A cloud-native universal gateway that converts, normalizes and routes IP feeds across LRT, SRT and RTMP, bridging social, online and remote sources with traditional broadcast.

  • LiveU Studio A browser-based production suite with synchronized multi-camera, ISO recording and instant replay, letting distributed teams produce professional live content from anywhere.

  • Workflow Automation Story-centric workflows such as LiveU Ingest and LiveU Schedule help smaller teams deliver large-scale productions efficiently while lowering operating costs.

04Technology Core: LRT Protocol and IP Bonding

LiveU's flagship products are built on its pioneering LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol and unique IP Bonding technology, enabling real-time, high-quality video transmission from anywhere to anywhere over public internet or private networks. Its AI-driven LIQ connectivity management continuously optimizes across available network operators in real time, maintaining stable transmission even in congested or saturated environments — the very foundation behind the LU900Q's record-setting performances at the Tour de France, IRONMAN triathlons and trans-Pacific remote VAR deployments.
