LiveU, a pioneer in portable wireless video backpack solutions, will showcase its enhanced LU60 video uplink series at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas (Booth SU8808). This series achieves sub-second latency and outstanding resilience with multiple bonded 4G/3G connections. With ultra-low latency, LiveU's powerful broadcast-quality video uplink provides customers with a cost-effective alternative to satellite solutions for live two-way interviews on location.
The bonded LU60 solution leverages LiveU's robust proprietary RF technology to deliver video quality up to 1080p HD, ensuring optimal resilience in all 4G LTE/3G coverage areas. Numerous major broadcasters have deployed hundreds of systems to report on evolving events around the world, such as those in Egypt and Japan, as well as recent major happenings like the Super Bowl, GRAMMY Awards, Academy Awards, and NBA All-Star Weekend.
The LU60 system has delivered exceptional performance for LiveU customers across the U.S. and globally. Don Bailey, News Operations Manager at WSB-TV, part of Cox Media Group, stated, "LiveU enables WSB NEWS to report live from new locations, and the portability of the system has been a highlight of our Atlanta coverage." LiveU CEO Samuel Wasserman remarked, "LiveU's antenna technology has significantly changed live video transmission. Our clients can conduct interviews in various challenging environments, such as inside cars, in crowds, and even in helicopters for aerial reporting. With sub-second latency, we can provide a satellite-like experience to customers worldwide. As an industry pioneer, we are committed to continuously seeking technological breakthroughs and providing the highest level of customer service and 24/7 support year-round, anywhere."
The feature-rich LU60 software update also includes IFB (audio return channel from the studio), store-and-forward mode, audio continuity for higher resilience, and automatic international roaming capabilities. The backpack solution integrates all industry-standard power systems, including Anton Bauer, IDX, and Sony V-Mount. LiveU was an early adopter of LTE technology, integrating 4G LTE links into its wireless bonded solutions for coverage of the Swedish elections in September 2010. The LU60 includes multiple 4G LTE/3G, HSPA+, WiMAX, and Wi-Fi wireless links, all optimized for maximum throughput in areas where 4G is unavailable. The series is fully compatible with Verizon and other upcoming LTE networks in the U.S., and many LiveU customers have already experienced the higher speeds and reliability these networks offer.
